Design is personal, and for Anisa and Casey Darnell, it’s also a family affair. As the husband-and-wife duo behind Truth & Co., a Roswell, GA–based interior design firm, they’ve spent the better part of two decades turning houses into homes that feel both elevated and effortless.
Since launching Truth & Co. in 2016, Anisa and Casey have guided homeowners across the country through everything from ground-up builds to full-scale renovations. Their specialty? Managing the complexities of multi-million-dollar projects while giving clients a clear, stress-free roadmap to their dream home.
Their work has not gone unnoticed—Truth & Co. has been featured on HGTV and in Better Homes & Gardens, Country Living, and Women’s Day. Whether it’s a luxury estate in Atlanta or a breezy coastal retreat in Florida, their designs strike that rare balance of sophistication and livability.
But beyond the projects and press, life for the Darnells is rich with adventure at home. They live in Roswell with their four daughters, and when they’re not designing, renovating, or running their growing business, you’ll find them biking trails, traveling, and gathering inspiration from the everyday moments that shape the heart of their work.
Can you take us back to 2016—what inspired you and Casey to launch Truth & Co, and how did your first few projects come together?
We wanted to create a company and environments that feel like home. Warm, welcoming, approachable, comfortable and kind.
How do you and Casey divide your strengths as co-founders? And what keeps your creative spark alive after nearly 20 years in the business?
Casey and I were in the weeds together for several years, however now I am in the day to day with the team and he is more in the vision casting and marketing side. Creativity comes from when we travel and explore little towns. We love England because there is so much history and character in the architecture. Locally, we love going for a drive around Atlanta and looking at the beautiful homes.
When you're designing a space, how do you zoom from the macro vision—architecture, flow, furniture—to the micro details like art, accessories, and rugs?
We usually start with inspiration (design intent) for the overall feel of the home and zoom in from there. We like to get furniture layouts right and then start pulling pieces. However the rug, a painting or fabric can set the color palette and tone for the whole room.
How much of a room’s identity do you believe a rug can carry? Can it truly transform the space?
It can totally transform a room and anchor the space with color, texture and ground floating furniture with it.
Can you share a specific project where a custom rug solved a problem or helped bring the full vision to life in a way an off-the-shelf rug couldn’t?
Rooms that have fireplaces protruding can really cut the rug size down and can create an awkward spot of flooring showing, this is where a custom rug is definitely needed and can help anchor furniture to it.
Is there a ‘rug trend’ you’re loving right now—or one you’re gently steering clients away from?
I don't know if it's a trend because I think it is timeless, but I love a 100% wool rug. Even new ones can look like an heirloom.
If you could give just one piece of advice to someone choosing a rug for their home, what would it be?
Invest in a good rug, don't get a screen printed rug. You can tell the difference and quality!
