Q+A with Scott

What do you do if you have a rug you love that is too small for the room?

I love to layer smaller rugs on top of sisal rugs. It gives a really nice layered look and will also help cover the desired amount of flooring you need to. Sisal rugs come in a variety of blends, weaves and colors.

How far do area rugs need to come off the baseboard?

Depending on your furniture arrangement, the standard practice is approx 12" around the entire room. It will give a nice cohesive and custom look.

What type of rug is going to be kid friendly and pet friendly?

Anything wool will be perfect! Low pile or even a wool loop would be great....so easy to maintain and to clean. I would not recommend synthetics or any natural grass products.

Is it OK to mix patterns of area rugs from room to room?

Most definitely...as long as they are in the same color ranges, donšt be afraid to mix it up. It might be nice to use a solid in one room just to break it up a bit. Make sure your patterns are complimentary to each other. (geometric to geometric, floral to floral, etc)
